Thwaites targets Q2 2026 launch for Rotator dumper
22 April 2025

UK-based dumper manufacturer Thwaites is hoping to make its new Rotator dumper available from the second quarter of next year, the company has told IRN.
The 9 tonne model features a 180-degree rotating operator seat, designed to improve all-round visibility and allow the machine to be operated in either direction with consistent safety.
The cab is fitted with integrated cameras and adjustable mirrors, while access is available via doors on both sides.
Safety features include a seat presence switch, limit switches to lock out controls unless the seat is properly engaged, and tilt sensors that provide audio and visual tipping alerts based on gradient.
Fixed green and amber beacons are positioned on both the upper cab structure and roof.
The cab also includes air conditioning, improved legroom, an upgraded seat, and hydrostatic control. The rotating seat and panoramic glazed cab are intended to enhance operator comfort and visibility.
Power comes from a 3.6 litre Deutz turbocharged engine that delivers 55.4kW and 405Nm of torque, compliant with EU Stage V emissions standards and operating at under 101 dB(A).
The dumper uses Thwaites鈥 telemetry system to monitor usage and flag any potential issues that might affect performance or safety.
For servicing, the machine includes electronic alerts for oil and coolant levels, a hinged floor plate for engine access, and removable hatches to reach filters and the fuel pump. These are designed to simplify routine maintenance and reduce machine downtime, the company said.
Speaking to IRN on the Thwaites stand at Bauma earlier this month, export account manager Julie Day said the Rotator had drawn significant interest at the show; 鈥淓very single person that has visited us is asking about it.
鈥淭hey have demand in every country, and the competition has some version of this concept, so customers that trust Thwaites are looking for our take on it in the 9-tonne class.鈥
Day also confirmed that a power swivel version of the machine is in development and may be introduced next year; 鈥淚n Europe they use power swivel more, in general, than the front tip,鈥 she said.
Bauma lineup
Alongside the Rotator, the company debuted two additional new machines at Bauma 2025, including a 2 tonne electric Hi-Swivel dumper, powered by a 22kWh lithium-ion battery operating at 48V.
It features dual electric motors鈥攐ne for traction and one for hydraulic functions鈥攁nd is capable of completing a full working day on a single charge.
A standard 3kW onboard charger provides a full charge in eight hours using a three-phase supply, while an optional fast charger can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in under 50 minutes.
Thwaites also showed a 6 tonne Power Swivel dumper equipped with the new ROPS+ system鈥攁n open frame safety design that complied with the updated EN474:2022 standards for operator protection.
The ROPS+ configuration includes features such as an overhead locking bar, seatbelt sensors, padded side panels, and a reinforced chassis to help ensure operator safety during machine rollovers.
Alongside the new models, Thwaites also displayed three of its established machines: the T450 Power Swivel (4.5-tonne), the 1.5-tonne Power Swivel, and the 1-tonne Hi-Tip.
