The project included a range of tasks, from unloading and preassembling to the principal installation of 28 Vestas EnVentusTM V162-5.6 MW turbines 鈥 the first of their kind in the country.

In tandem with Vestas鈥 mechanical and electrical installation teams, Mammoet played a role in the elevation and assembly of turbine components, spanning tower segments, nacelles, powertrains, hubs, and blades.

In the initial phase, Mammoet efficiently employed a Terex Demag AC700 crane, with a 700-ton capacity, to manage both unloading and preassembly tasks. Through strategic positioning, the hydraulic crane executed a two-stage offloading procedure, reducing on-site teams from three to two and optimising crane movements between lifts.

Subsequently, Mammoet harnessed the capabilities of an LG 1750SX crane, outfitted with a 151-metre main boom and a 12-metre fixed fly. The crane is said to have perfectly matched the demands of the high and potent wind turbines, effortlessly hoisting the 92-ton EnVentus powertrains to a hub height of 149m.

Positioned within the Atherton Tablelands, the Neoen鈥檚 Kaban Green Power Hub is strategically situated to harness the region鈥檚 wind resources. In addition to this, the project aligns with Queensland鈥檚 goal of achieving 50% renewable electricity by 2030.

Once finalised, the US$373 million wind farm anticipates generating 460,000 megawatt hours of clean energy annually.
