Liebherr crane finishes work on Frankfurt high-rise
12 January 2023
Liebherr has announced that, after three and a half years, the 230 HC-L 8/16 crane has carried out its last lift on 鈥楾he Spin鈥 high-rise project in Frankfurt, Germany.

鈥楾he Spin鈥 is one of three high-rise buildings that have now been erected on G眉terplatz. The 32-storey high-rise, designed by architect Hadi Teherani, offers space for a premium hotel, offices and a roof terrace.
With a final hook height of approximately 180m, Liebherr said that the luffing jib crane was the tallest crane on the project in Frankfurt 鈥 and also the last remaining crane on site.
Liebherr鈥檚 Tower Crane Solutions project department started planning the dismantling of the 230 HC-L 8/16 five years ago. To ensure a smooth climb down, the crane, with its radius of 55 metres, had to be able to negotiate the new hotel and office tower without colliding with it. Furthermore, it needed to do so along a fa莽ade with multiple projections.
The upper storeys are each at a slightly rotated angle compared to the lower ones so that the 128-metre-high tower doesn鈥檛 have a uniform, smooth-running exterior said Liebherr.
The company added that the cranes assisted in the construction of the tower and the development of its surroundings. Featuring intelligent assistance systems, such as the Micromove fine positioning mode, the Liebherr cranes were said to have mainly helped with concreting, formwork and fa莽ade-related tasks.
The Spin Tower is scheduled to open in spring 2023.
