Skanska launches advanced unit for high-tech manufacturing projects
20 February 2025
Skanska USA 鈥 a regional outfit of Sweden-based global construction and development firm Skanska 鈥 established a new business unit focused on high-tech and semiconductor manufacturing construction.

The unit, called Skanska Advanced Technology (SAT), operates within Skanska USA鈥檚 Building division and consists of more than 180 professionals.
Katie Coulson, executive vice president and general manager at Skanska USA, will lead the new division.
鈥淯nder her leadership, we are well positioned to better serve our key customers and seize emerging opportunities in the high-tech/chips manufacturing sector,鈥 said Clay Haden, president and CEO of Skanska USA Building.
The announcement follows Skanska鈥檚 2024 full-year and fourth-quarter results, in which the company reported a record backlog and double-digit revenue growth. Skanska CEO Anders Danielsson highlighted the strength of the US high-tech market, particularly data centres.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a very attractive segment,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e are well positioned when it comes to that segment in the market, especially in the US, where we see the strongest activity. There are multiple clients, repeat clients, that want to build out. We see a strong pipeline.鈥
Skanska has completed or is currently delivering more than US$23 billion in advanced technology projects. The company said the SAT unit would help it meet growing demand in the sector, with ongoing projects in Oregon, Arizona, and California and expectations for further expansion in the US technology market.
