Major US 3D concrete printer confirms round of layoffs

Icon, a Texas, US-based 3D concrete printing (3DCP) robotics and technology company, confirmed a round of layoffs and realignment to start the new year.

Initial details regarding a round of restructuring emerged on social media among 3DCP industry professionals on 7 January.
In a statement to Construction Briefing, Icon confirmed it had begun a process of reducing its staff size.
鈥淲e recently made a difficult decision to realign our team and team size to focus on our highest priorities and continue to invest in our best growth opportunities,鈥� said an Icon spokesperson.
said 114 people were let go, citing information from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Icon, which has helped construct several 3DCP communities in Texas in recent years, released a new multi-storey 3D printer named 鈥楶hoenix鈥� in 2024.
鈥淥ur priority is to accelerate the development of Phoenix, our line of multi-storey 3D printers and begin putting the robotic technology into the hands of builders,鈥� said Icon鈥檚 spokesperson.
