The extension 鈥 part of the broader 鈧1.7 billion (US$1.76) Milan Metro Line 4 project 鈥 aims to provide a more 鈥渄irect and convenient鈥 transfer between the city鈥檚 M4 and M2 metro lines, Webuild said.

As part of the works, a 70m-long station tunnel corridor was built, featuring a 50m虏 walkable glass display case that showcases the archaeological find.

The ancient walls, measuring 35m in length, are believed to have been part of a supporting structure for the Naviglio San Gerolamo canal.

Webuild stated, 鈥淭he design solution, specifically developed to preserve and highlight the discovered structures, allows passengers to walk along the very 鈥榖ed鈥 of the medieval canal.

鈥淔lanked by the original containment wall made of Lombard 鈥榗eppo鈥 stone and structures once connected to the Pusterla di Sant鈥橝mbrogio, the corridor offers a unique journey through history.鈥
