Bechtel names project director for Poland鈥檚 first nuclear power plant build

US-based contractor Bechtel has appointed senior vice president Ed Gore as project director for Poland鈥檚 first nuclear power plant.
The 3,750MW plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania, is expected to involve a total investment of around 鈧�45 billion, according to the European Commission.
Bechtel is leading EPC activities for the project in partnership with Westinghouse Electric Company and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie J膮drowe (PEJ).
The initiative includes the delivery of three AP1000 reactors and aims to strengthen Poland鈥檚 local supply chain and workforce development. To date, Bechtel has hosted seven supplier symposia, engaging over 1,000 participants from 700 subcontractors. 鈥�
Gore brings over 30 years of experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project management.
His recent roles include general manager of Bechtel鈥檚 Mining & Metals North America business and senior project manager for the 3GP Future Growth Project in Kazakhstan. He has also held leadership positions on projects in Equatorial Guinea, India, the UK, and Chile.鈥�
Construction is scheduled to start in 2026 and according to the European Commission, it could start operating as early as the second half of 2030.
