Chinese firm to build ‘first motorway for African country
08 July 2024
Contractor China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) will build the ‘first motorway in Angola, Africa, with the scheme totalling 1,400km (870 miles) at a cost of approximately US$2.5 billion (2.6 billion), .

The country’s inaugural highway which was first approved as a public/private partnership funding scheme in 2020 will link the northern and southern regions of Angola, including connections with neighbouring Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Provinces to see expanded infrastructure include Cunene, Zaire, and Cabinda.
Bridge works, presumably over the Congo River, are expected to link Zaire and Angola’s Cabinda enclave.
Initial studies for the project will start later this summer with construction work expected to commence in late 2025 or 2026.
A date of completion was not available.
