Acciona claims robot helps it build partition walls 6 times faster
05 July 2024

A robot has helped Spanish infrastructure firm Acciona to build partition walls on a hospital project in Portugal six times faster than normal.
The company claimed to be the first to use the HP SitePrint robot in Portugal, at the Alentejo Central Hospital in 脡vora, as well as being the first Spanish infrastructure firm to 鈥渃ontinuously鈥 use the equipment.
The robot is designed to improve the efficiency of a site鈥檚 design layout by printing out lines and text on ground surfaces and helping project teams to visualise planning data on the ground.
The robot consists of a small mobile unit equipped with wheels and a print head specifically developed for this purpose.
Acciona said that the robot sped up the installation of the partition walls across a 140,000 square metre slab area by six times, demonstrating its usefulness on major projects.
The 鈧149 million New Regional Hospital of Alentejo, located in 脡vora, includes the construction of a ten-storey building with capacity for 400 beds, as well as 127,000 square metres of green spaces and the construction of a heliport and large parking areas, among other works. It is scheduled for completion in 2025.
