Develon reveals new generation of crawler excavators
09 April 2025
At Bauma 2025, Develon has introduced two new -9 smart heavy crawler excavators, showcased for the first time in Europe. The 23-tonne DX230LC-9 crawler excavator is part of the static display and the 26-tonne DX260LC-9 model is in the demonstration.

The Smart All-Around Viewing Monitor (SAVM) features AI-based Object Detection technology that identifies both moving and stationary individuals in close proximity to the machine. Upon detection, the system promptly alerts operators through visual signals and audible alarms on the monitor, enhancing their awareness of the surrounding environment.
Building on this focus on safety and visibility, Develon says that the Advanced Lift Assist system provides operators with clear and immediate information regarding the machine’s tip-over risk.
Further enhancing operational safety, the Virtual Wall feature enables users to restrict machine movement within designated boundaries. This is particularly valuable in high-risk environments such as tight urban areas or underground sites where obstacles like wires and pipes are prevalent.
To accommodate a variety of working conditions and user requirements, Develon offers customised solutions through its Full Electric Hydraulic (FEH) system, available on the -9 models. The system supports adjustments to operability and controllability, ensuring optimal performance and operator comfort across diverse applications.
The company adds that the new -9 machines deliver a 12% increase in productivity and an 8% reduction in fuel consumption when compared with the previous -7 models.
The gains are largely attributed to the integration of the FEH control system, which incorporates electronic pumps, electronic Main Control Valves (MCV), and electronic Relief Control Valves (RCV). The technology has led to fuel savings - ranging from 1,700 litres for the DX230LC-9 to 2,700 litres for the DX260LC-9 - over every 1,500 hours of operation compared to earlier models.
