‘World-first smart construction safety shoe to be launched
27 May 2025
A smart safety shoe that can detect when a worker has suffered a fall and automatically send alerts in emergency situations is set to be launched later this year.

Swedish personal protective equipment (PPE) provider BÃ¥stadgruppen claimed that the new shoes, set to be released under its Monitor brand and developed in collaboration with safety technology company Quin, are a world first.
The shoes, which combine the functionality and robustness of traditional safety boots with the design of sports and outdoor footwear, will be able to incorporate a Quin smart sensor whose features will be accessible via a dedicated app.
The show will be able to monitor movement patters to detect falls or abnormal incidents.
In the event of an incident, it will send an alert to three designated emergency contacts, as well as providing details of the user’s status and real-time location.
The technology also includes Quin’s ResQ feature, which integrates with the emergency services and shares critical data about the wearer. The aim is to allow on-site responders to quickly assess the data in an emergency.
The new range of shoes are set to be launched in autumn 2025 and without the sensor, will range from 259.50-299.50, depending on the model. The Quin Smart sensor costs an additional 90, although a Monitor ICE - Evolution Flow ‘Quin Within shoe that includes the sensor will cost 344.90.

The SOS RescQ function that sends out an SOS by itself if a worker ends up in an emergency situation costs 3 a month.
The shoes will be available in the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, and Great Britain.
Ani Surabhi, CEO of Quin said, “Partnering with Monitor marks a powerful step toward redefining workplace safety. Their leadership in protective footwear and commitment to innovation mirrors our own. Together we’re not just creating a smart shoe - we’re making cutting-edge technology accessible to those who need it most.
“We are taking a significant step toward the future of workplace safety. This represents the next level in both protection and technology, added Ove Nilsson, category manager at Monitor.
