Rescuers are continuing to search for survivors at the site of an under-construction high-rise building in Bangkok, Thailand, after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck neighbouring Myanmar on Friday (28 March).

Thailand鈥檚 prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has visited the site of the building in the Chatuchak district, construction of which began in 2020.

The 30-storey building was being built by a joint venture between Italian Thai Development PCL and a local subsidiary of China鈥檚 state-owned China Railway Group, the China Railway Number 10 (Thailand) Ltd, according to Reuters.

It was the only building to collapse completely in Thailand.

More than 76 people were thought to still be trapped under the rubble of the building on Monday (31 March).

The earthquake on Friday killed nearly 2,000 people in Myanmar. In Thailand, 18 have been confirmed dead.
