Peab鈥檚 鈥榣argest Norwegian contract鈥� to develop US$299m Bod酶 airport

Sweden-based construction and civil engineering company Peab announced that its been commissioned to work on Nya Bod酶 Airport in Bod酶 Municipality, Norway, on a contract worth NOK3.3 billion (US$299 million).

The project is moving from the development phase to implantation phase, said Peab.
Bod酶 is located in Nordland county in the Northern Norway region. The municipality has a population of just more than 50,000.
An airport or base has existed in the area since 1921, but civilian travel from Bod酶 wasn鈥檛 started until 1990. The New Bod酶 Airport will represent the first major renovation in more than three decades.
鈥淭his is a historic agreement and the largest Peab has received in Norway,鈥� said Johan Hansson, president of Peab civil engineering in Norway.
鈥淎s a local community builder, it is important for us to be able to contribute to employment in the region. This is a complex project that requires good coordination and cooperation between all the actors involved.鈥�
Working for client Avinor 鈥� Norway鈥檚 state-owned airport operator 鈥� Peab鈥檚 role includes construction of a new runway, taxiways, and parking spaces for aircraft.
鈥淧reparatory work has already been carried out in the area, such as the removal of vegetation, the demolition of old infrastructure and blasting,鈥� said Peab.
Construction is to begin immediately with completion expected in June 2028.
