07 January 2025
Sweden-based Hexagon 鈥 a global company providing digital solutions using sensor, software and autonomous technology 鈥 said it will acquire Belgium-based Septentrio in a deal still subject to regulatory approvals.

An OEM provider, Septentrio specialises in multi-frequency, multi-constellation GPS/GNSS positioning technology designed for machine automation.
In addition to construction, the firm provides solutions to robotics, survey and mapping, maritime and logistics industries.
Hexagon said it expects the acquisition to expand the market reach of its Resilient Assured Positioning solutions.
鈥淐ombining Septentrio鈥檚 pioneering GNSS platform with Hexagon鈥檚 extensive positioning portfolio, including sensor fusion, anti-jamming, correction services and perception technologies, will enable cutting-edge solutions for diverse markets and applications,鈥 Hexagon said.
鈥淭his will ensure greater accessibility to high-accuracy and high-performance positioning technology with low SWaP (size, weight and power) characteristics.鈥
According to Hexagon, Septentrio is expected to generate more than US$51 million in revenue for 2024.
Norbert Hanke, interim president and CEO of Hexagon, said, 鈥淭he combination of Hexagon and Septentrio will transform the positioning industry across existing and new markets, setting new standards for the accuracy, resilience and scalability of positioning technologies, necessary to support and accelerate the journey towards full autonomy.鈥
Financial details for the deal were not available. Hexagon expects to close on the purchase in the first half of this year.
