Former Clayco CEO Russ Burns dies aged 65

Russ Burns, the retired former CEO of US-based construction company Clayco, has died aged 65.

Clayco announced Burns鈥� retirement after more than 17 years of service at the design-build company, effective 31 December 2024. However, he remained as chairman of the board of advisors for the company.
Clayco announced on the weekend (22 March), that Burns had passed away.
In a statement, the company said, 鈥淚t is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Russ Burns, a respected leader, colleague, and friend whose impact at Clayco鈥攁nd across the industry鈥攚ill never be forgotten.
鈥淩uss brought unmatched dedication and integrity to every role he held. His leadership was defined not only by the results he delivered, but by the way he inspired those around him鈥攚ith humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to doing the right thing.
鈥淩uss played a vital role in shaping Clayco鈥檚 success and culture. His contributions laid the foundation for many of the relationships, values, and accomplishments we continue to build on today. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. Russ, you will be greatly missed. We thank you for everything.鈥�
In January this year, Clayco announced that Anthony Johnson, previously executive vice president and president of Clayco鈥檚 Industrial Business Unit, would take over as CEO. At the time, Johnson said, 鈥淩uss has been an outstanding mentor and leader, and I鈥檓 grateful for the trust placed in me to carry his vision forward.鈥�
