Eiffage wins �100 million contract in Democratic Republic of Congo

Eiffage has won a multi-million contract to revamp the chief sea port of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a statement to investors, the French construction giant said it had secured the design-build contract in a deal worth more than �100 million to renovate and extend the container terminal in the Port of Matadi through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil Marine.

The contract, awarded by Matadi Corridor Terminaux à Conteneurs (MCTC) company, includes the construction of a new 350 metres long by 30 metres wide pile dock located in front of the existing Docks 5, 6 and 7 along with three 20-metre-wide access bridges through the existing dock, an operations building and a workshop facility, as well as the refurbishment of the 7-hectare logistics hub.

The total contract duration is 27 months. The worksite will be carried out while the dock remains operational during the various phases of works.
