Egis and Setec consult on $5bn Cairo Metro Line 6 studies

French engineering consultancies Egis and Setec have signed a deal to develop the second phase of studies for a new metro line in Cairo, expected to cost around US$5 billion.
The proposed Metro Line 6 would extend over 34km, running from north to south through various Greater Cairo neighbourhoods.
It will connecting with the Metro Lines 1, 3, and 4.
France鈥檚 government has agreed to finance the preconstruction phase of the project.
Egypt鈥檚 minister of transport H.E. Kamel El Wazir said, 鈥淎s we embark on this visionary project, that not only pledges to transform Cairo鈥檚 urban mobility, but also holds the potential to enhance the quality of life for our citizens in profound ways, we take immense pride of this partnership between Egypt and France.
