Costain among 10 firms selected for US$500m Thames Water framework

UK-based construction and engineering firm Costain is among 10 companies to enter into a framework contract with Thames Water, the country鈥檚 largest water and wastewater company, to manage and deliver upgrades to infrastructure through 2032.

Costain said it will be one of ten providers to provide support for Thames Water with programme management, benefits management, change control and transition plans for the delivery of operational or regulatory delivery programmes.

Thames Water said it anticipated its capital programme during asset management period (AMP) 8 will be up to three times the size of its existing programme, as it seeks to address the twin challenge of ageing infrastructure and climate change on its assets.

Preetinder Dhanoa, capital procurement business partner at Thames Water, said, 鈥淲e are delighted to confirm these critical framework awards, which will be used to source asset engineering and capital professional services that are critical to the success of Thames Water鈥檚 AMP8 programme. This agreement will introduce a number of improvements to our previous arrangements, including driving value through innovation and partnership working.鈥�

Costain added, 鈥淭hames Water anticipates its capital programme during AMP8 [2025-2030] will be up to three times the size of its existing programme.鈥� 

Earlier this year, Costain was awarded contracts to support Thames Water鈥檚 upgrade of assets as part of the water company鈥檚 Wastewater Asset Assurance Programme.

Costain has also been鈥痗onducting clay compaction trials to inform the designs for a new 150Mm3 reservoir in Oxfordshire, England, UK.
