Contractor awarded $1.6bn worth of track and stations work for Honolulu rapid transit system

US-based contractor Tutor Perini has won nearly $1.7 billion worth of construction work on a new rapid transit system in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has selected Tutor Perini to design and build six railway stations and around three miles of elevated rail guideway beginning just east of the existing Middle Street Transit Center Station and ending at the Civic Center Station, which will be located just east of downtown Honolulu.
The six new stations will be: Mokauea (Kalihi) Station, Niuhelewai (Honolulu Community College-Kap膩lama) Station, K奴wili (Iwilei) Station, H艒lau (Chinatown) Station, Kuloloia (Downtown) Station, Ka驶膩kaukukui (Civic Center) Station.

Project design will begin immediately after contract execution, which is expected in mid-September this year.
Construction work itself is set to start in the second half of 2025, with substantial completion expected in 2030.
Parsons Corporation will serve as Tutor Perini鈥檚 design subcontractor.

The contract value will be added to the Company鈥檚 backlog in the third quarter of 2024.
