Aecom receives management contract for San Diego airport project

US-based global infrastructure consulting firm Aecom said it signed on to provide programme management services for the nearly US$4-billion San Diego International Airport (SAN) expansion project in California, US.

The company said the purview includes updates to critical infrastructure, access, and sustainability features, including management of construction on New Terminal 1 and the modernisation of Termain 2 East.
鈥淚n its role, AECOM will provide a full range of programme, project and construction management services, as well as diversified specialised services,鈥� said Aecom. 鈥淸The new main terminal], the airport鈥檚 biggest project ever, will include a new on-airport entrance road to provide travellers with a faster route to the airport.
鈥淣ew bicycle lanes and a pedestrian path will connect the airport to San Diego鈥檚 surrounding communities.鈥�
Drew Jeter, chief executive of AECOM鈥檚 program management global business line, added, 鈥淭hese improvements, guided by our program management expertise, will enhance passenger experience, safety, and airport design, while also boosting the regional economy through job creation and increased tourism.鈥�
A joint venture of Turner Construction and Flatiron Construction have been working on first phase works since signing a more than $2-billion contract in 2020.
Just less week, the project announced it received additional federal funding.
Financial detail for Aecom鈥檚 management contract with SAN was not available.
