JCB founder鈥檚 memorial
22 June 2016
The centenary of the birth of UK manufacturer JCB鈥檚 founder has been marked with the unveiling of a specially-commissioned bronze bust.
Joseph Cyril Bamford was born on June 21, 1916. When he retired in 1975 and handed over to his son Anthony, the company he founded in a lock-up garage in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, UK, in October 1945, was turning over more than 拢43 million (鈧56 million) a year and employing hundreds of people.
His sons Lord Bamford and Mark Bamford, and his grandson Jo Bamford, marked the centenary of his birth by unveiling the one and a quarter scale bronze bust at JCB鈥檚 World HQ in Rocester.
The bust, which will be on permanent display at JCB鈥檚 World HQ, weighs around 50kgs and stands around 700mm high.
