Develon launches rental-ready mini excavator
10 April 2025

Develon has unveiled the the DX25Z mini excavator, tailored for the rental sector, at Bauma.
Based on the manufacturer鈥檚 existing DX27Z-7 model, the compact zero tail swing DX25Z shares much of the same platform, including its compact dimensions, zero tail swing design and transport-friendly weight.
However, the company told IRN that it has been has been specifically adapted to meet the demands of rental fleets, with a focus on durability, simplified operation, and streamlined maintenance.
The 2.5 tonne class machine is powered by the same 18.4kW (24.6 hp) Stage V engine as the DX27Z and offers similarly smooth, proportional hydraulic control for a range of attachments. Thanks to its compact footprint, the DX25Z is ideal for confined job sites, urban projects, and landscaping work 鈥 a common requirement for rental customers.
While maintaining strong digging performance and stability, the DX25Z is fitted with rental-friendly features such as reinforced components, vandal guards, and a simplified user interface designed for less experienced operators. It also omits some of the higher-spec options found on the DX27Z-7, making it a more cost-effective and rugged choice for multi-user environments.
The DX25Z can be transported easily on a trailer with a range of buckets and a hydraulic breaker, staying within the 3.5-tonne transport limit, which is key for self-drive hire.
Develon says the new model provides the same performance as the DX27Z, in a package built to withstand the rigours of rental use.c
Mariami Nemstsveridze, mini excavator product manager, said, 鈥淭he reason we are launching the DX25Z is to give a version for rental companies and to give the opportunity to the customer that may be price sensitive to have another option and to not go out of our brand.鈥
