Logistics company Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT) is adding two new harbour cranes to its facilities at the Port of Lagos in Nigeria.
A subsidiary of Bollor茅 Transport & Logistics, TICT has ordered two eco-efficient Gottwald Model 7 cranes from Finland-based manufacturer Konecranes.
The new cranes, of the G HMK 7408 variant, will feature customized propping bases and double propping pads.
Offering a maximum radius of 54 metres and a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes each, they will expand the lifting capacity of the company鈥檚 lifting fleet.
The Gottwald models will be used to load and unload container ships that range in size up to super-post-Panamax class.
Konecranes said the company placed the order so that it could deal with the expected rise in container traffic in 2021 鈥渁nd beyond鈥.
Etienne Rocher, managing director of TICT, said, 鈥淟iner requirements are constantly evolving, increasingly requiring higher performance cranes with flexibility in cargo handling and twin-lift container operation as larger ships call more frequently at our Port.
鈥淥ur experience with Konecranes equipment has always been excellent. We are pleased to add two more of the Model 7 cranes to our facility.鈥
The new cranes will operate alongside the company鈥檚 existing Gottwald fleet, which comprises six Model 4, two Model 6 and two further Model 7 Konecranes.
