COO at one of Europe’s biggest construction firms quits after ‘difference of views
20 March 2025

Austria-based construction company Porr has announced the departure and replacement of its chief operating officer after a ‘difference of views.
The company said that Jürgen Raschendorfer has resigned his position from the management board of the company and will hand over his responsibilities over the course of this month.
His resignation came over a “difference of views regarding the internationalisation of Porr.
Porr has since appointed Josef-Dieter Deix as Raschendorfer’s replacement.
Deix has worked at the company for more than 25 years in various management and executive roles, having started his construction career after graduating from the University of Natural Resources, Vienna, with a degree in civil engineering and water management.
He will be responsible for operations in the infrastructure international segment, including tunnelling and Porr’s home markets of Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia, where civil engineering is the strongest-performing sector.
CEO Karl-Heinz Strauss explained, “In the coming years, Porr will continue to focus on its home markets and its strategy of intelligent growth with Green and Lean. We expect infrastructure expansion to remain the driving force in the construction industry in the years to come. With his extensive experience, Josef-Dieter Deix is the perfect choice for this role. I look forward to continuing our successful collaboration.
Porr reported a turnover in 2023 of over 6 billion and placed 19th on Construction Europe’s CE100 list of the 100 biggest construction companies in Europe in 2024.
