Construction starting for US$1.4b San Antonio airport terminal
10 December 2024
San Antonio International Airport, US, is preparing for a 10 December construction start on the new US$1.4 billion Terminal C for the Texas, US-based aviation centre, which is undergoing a 20-year, $2.5-billion redevelopment that was first approved in 2021.

Last year, US-based Hensel Phelps was selected as the planning and general contractor for the new terminal.
The firm will also construct a multi-storey transportation centre, expand roadways and install a new customs inspection area. Updates to utilities and demolition are also included in the work.
Terminal C is planned to have 17 gates sprawled along a 832,000 sq ft (77,295m2) footprint. Once complete, Terminal C is expected to double the current existing terminal space.

A manager-at-risk contract, contractor Hensel Phelps is capped at $1 billion and is expected to bid out about 85% of work.
Texas-based firms Corgan and Lake Flato designed the scheme.
Terminal C is expected to open in 2028. The airport鈥檚 20-year development plan is scheduled to run through 2040.
