鈥榃orld鈥檚 highest鈥 3D printed structure built in Himalayas
23 April 2025
A 3D printer has reportedly been used to construct a military bunker at 11,000 feet in the Himalayan mountain Range in Leh, India.

What is claimed to be the world鈥檚 highest on-site 3D printed structure has been created by Simpliforge Creations and IIT Hyderabad in collaboration with the Indian Army.
The structure was printed in 14 hours using Simpliforge鈥檚 robotic 3D printer, which was deployed and commissioned in under 24 hours.
Simpliforge鈥檚 CEO Dhruv Gandhi said, 鈥淩educed oxygen levels impaired power efficiency and human performance. Low humidity and high UV radiation impacted material integrity 鈥 but our systems delivered a robust structure in just five days.鈥
Operating at high altitudes with thermal extremes required specially engineered concrete.
Hari Krishna Jeedipalli, MD of Simpliforge, said, 鈥淭his Ladakh bunker is more than a defense milestone 鈥 it鈥檚 validation for extra-terrestrial applications. We see this as a stepping stone toward space construction on the Moon and Mars.鈥
